Time for a confession - I didn't think I'd like this book. Remember Andrew McCarthy? (Brat Pack - Pretty In Pink - Weekend at Bernie's, etc.). Well he's a very successful travel writer, and has penned a book about his adventures and - wait for it - his inability to commit to a relationship.
I rolled my eyes a bit when I started ready to book profile. Great, another Richard Bach wannabe (kids, ask your parents). But guess what? It's a solid read with some great points.
Andrew is very open about his early struggles and how he dealt with them, and moves on to his relationship and dealing with the fears that many of us have getting married...or even serious with someone. A lot of people are comparing this to "Eat, Pray, Love" (guys, ask your wife). It's refreshing to see a man write about this stuff. And if you're going "he's not a man, he's an actor". Oh really? Dude climbed Kilimanjaro - that's enough for me.
It's called "The Longest Way Home - One Man's Quest for the Courage to Settle Down". And it gets my stamp of approval. click here for the podcast or use the player below
