8/6/2012

ZZ Top has announced a September 11 release date for "La Futura," the Texas trio's first set of all-new material in nine years. The album's first four songs -- "I Gotsta Get Paid," "Chartreuse," "Consumption" and "Over You" -- were released on the digital EP "Texicali" in June, while the group played another song, "Flyin' High," for U.S. astronaut Mike Fossum during his journey to the space station on a Soyuz carrier. The album was produced by ZZ Top with Grammy Award-winner Rick Rubin. The other songs include "Heartache in Blue," "I Dont Wanna Lose You," "Its Too Easy Manana," "Big Shiny Nine" and "Have a Little Mercy." ZZ Top, which played in June at the DTE Energy Music Theatre, has dates booked this month and next, including shows with Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Cult.
