VAN HALEN SONG JUMPS TO TOP OF SPORTS SONGS POLL

As the Summer Olympics get under way in London, a new poll lists Van Halen's "Jump" as the most popular song at sporting events. The British Performing Rights Society conducted a fan poll that put the 1984 Van Halen hit at No. 1, edging out the Rolling Stones' "Start Me Up" at No. 2 and Detroit native Jackie Wilson's "(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher" at No. 3. Other classic rockers landing on the poll included the Beatles, Queen (thrice), Journey and Survivor. The full PRS For Music poll Top 20 includes: 1. "Jump," Van Halen; 2. "Start Me Up", the Rolling Stones; 3. "(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher," Jackie Wilson; 4. "Gold," Spandau Ballet; "5. "Thriller," Michael Jackson; 6. "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go," Wham!; 7. "The Winner Takes It All," Abba; 8. "Silver Machine," Hawkwind; "We Are the Champions," Queen; "Shine," Take That; 11.
