"FLY LIKE AN EAGLE" NAMED BEST OF THE BIRD SONGS

Steve Miller's "Fly Like An Eagle" is for the birds -- literally. Readers of Birds & Blooms magazine voted Miller's 1976 hit their Favorite Bird Song in a new survey just published by the journal. "Fly Like An Eagle" received 17 percent of the 2,200 reader votes, edging out the Jackson 5's "Rockin' Robin" at 15 percent. Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Free Bird" was third with 13 percent, the Charlie and Inez Foxx/James Taylor and Carly Simon "Mockingbird" came in fourth with 12 percent and the Beatles' "Blackbid" was fifth with 11 percent. Also making the list: Bob Marley & the Wailers' "Three Little Birds" at No. 9 and the Trashmen's "Surfin' Bird" at No. 13.
