ROLLING STONES TO CALL IT QUITS IN 2013?

6/18/2012

The latest Rolling Stones rumor; that the group will retire from live performing after playing at the 2013 Glastonbury Festival in England. The report comes from Britain's Sunday Mirror, citing the usual unnamed sources close to the band. The sources also told the paper that the Stones will play a "handful" of shows in North America and Europe to celebrate the group's 50th anniversary. Once source said that, "All four members have agreed that next year is the right time to have one final hurrah and put on the gig of their lives. It's a case of now or never, and obviously Glastonbury is the most important festival on the circuit. Everybody's incredibly excited...It's a final bow." The Stones themselves have made no comments about their touring plans except for remarks by guitarist Keith Richards that the group considers 2013 to be its "real" 50th anniversary because drummer Charlie Watts joined the band in 1963...Meanwhile, Somerset House in London will host The Rolling Stones: 50 to promote the release of the coffee table book of the same name. The exhibit opens July 13, the day after the book is published, and will feature more than 70 prints along with contact sheets and original negatives of the photos.
