Rumors of Aerosmith's demise -- at least with Steven Tyler -- may turn out
to be greatly exaggerated. Tyler joined guitarist Joe Perry and his band on
stage Tuesday night (November 10th) at Irving Plaza in New York City for an
encore version of Aerosmith's "Walk This Way;" prior to the song Tyler told the
crowd that "I am not leaving Aerosmith" and told Perry "you are a man of many
colors, but I am the mother******* rainbow!" A clip of the performance can be

Earlier in the day the Hollywood Reporter said that Tyler would be making
some kind of formal announcement that he's not leaving the band. Perry
apparently interpreted Tyler's comments to Britain's Classic Rock magazine that
the singer's next project was "definitely going to be something Steven Tyler" to
be a tacit announcement that he's leaving the band. In a Twitter posting
Tuesday, Perry said that Tyler "is doing his own thing and said so in the press.
That's all I know." He also wrote that "Aerosmith is definitely not breaking up.
Aerosmith is positively looking for a new singer to work with. You just can't
take 40 years of experience and throw it in the bin...Band is playing hotter
than ever and our songs need to be played live! Don't despair; Aerosmith not
splitting up. Promise that's the last you'll hear from me on the subject till we
gear up again." While the smoke clears, Perry is on the road supporting his new
solo album, "Have Guitar, Will Travel" -- including a November 19th date at the
Caesar Windsor casino.
