A biography outlining the life of iconic Van Halen guitarist/founder, Eddie Van Halen, is on the way, but it won’t exactly be from the rocker’s point of view.
According to Blabbermouth, the unauthorized book is being penned by Paul Brannigan, who has previously written works on Nirvana drummer/turned Foo Fighters frontman, Dave Grohl, as well as Metallica.
Entitled Eruption, the rights to the story were secured by Faber & Faber, though the book will be published by Da Capo in the U.S.
Blabbermouth writes that the biography, “…promises to explore how it was the incendiary playing of the young guitarist which launched the band Van Halen into the consciousness of America in early 1978, and transformed the musical landscape. Offering the first real examination of a true musical icon, it will also turn up the volume on a life lived in popular music's fast lane.”
Eruption will reportedly be released sometime in 2015, though a specific date has yet to be announced.
Van Halen is currently on hiatus, having wrapped up a tour this past summer in support of their 2012 album, A Different Kind of Truth.
