This year’s installment of the UK’s BluesFest is shaping up to be a regular Rolling Stones reunion of sorts!
It was announced yesterday (October 14) that former Stones guitarist Mick Taylor will join forces with The Ronnie Wood Band for a performance set to take place on the final night of the festival as a tribute to the late Jimmy Reed.
Previously, Wood said of the upcoming performance, “Jimmy Reed was one of the premier influences on the Rolling Stones and all the bands that love American blues from that era until the present day. It is my honour to have the opportunity to celebrate his life and legacy with this tribute,” (via RollingStones.com).
But this isn’t the first time that Mick Taylor and Ronnie Wood have taken the stage together in 2013! Taylor performed as a special guest on several of the Rolling Stones’ 50 & Counting concert dates earlier this year, including the final two shows of the tour which took place at London’s Hyde Park on July 6 and 13.
The shows were documented in the forthcoming concert film Sweet Summer Sun - Hyde Park Live, which is due out on DVD/Blu-ray on November 12 via Eagle Rock Entertainment.
BluesFest is scheduled from October 29 - November 1 at London’s Royal Albert Hall. Tickets are now on sale at BluesFest.co.uk.
