John Lennon’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was sadly vandalized over the weekend.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, it was former Breakfast with the Beatles broadcaster Gillian Lomax that discovered the defaced star on Saturday (October 5) while leading a tour group to the landmark.
Lomax, who called the vandals “morons” and referred to their cartoony scribbles as “rather tacky,” immediately set the wheels in motion for the Hollywood Walk of Fame officials to be notified of the incident. By noon on Monday (October 7) the star had been returned to its original state.
Located next to Capitol Records on Vine Street in Los Angeles, a special tribute to the late rocker will be held at his star on what would have been his 73rd birthday (Wednesday, October 9) at 6pm, hosted by Chris Carter and Jerry Rubin of Breakfast with the Beatles.
