With the windows down and the volume up, there’s nothing like rocking out to a great song in your car!
That’s apparently a sentiment that even the legendary Sir Paul McCartney shares, and the rocker is emulating that very same concept to celebrate the release of his forthcoming album, New.
According to the official press release, McCartney will host advanced listening parties in New York and Los Angeles on Sunday (October 6) for a total of 600 fans.
New York will hold two separate sessions, one from 7pm – 8pm and the other from 8pm – 9pm, with 100 people welcome at each event. Slots will be available on a first-come-first-serve basis at the Open Road VW/Audi Dealership, and once fans arrive, they will be able to hear New while seated in vehicles parked the building’s roof.
The Los Angeles session will be open to the first 400 cars that pull into the Vineland Drive-In, where fans can tune into the theater’s FM transmitter to listen to the album. Those attending the Los Angeles session will also receive a free commemorative poster.
“I love listening to music in the car... It's like listening with a huge pair of headphones! You're in there and the sound is wrapped around you... it's great,” McCartney states on his official website.
New, which is due out officially on October 15, marks McCartney’s first album of all-original solo material since 2007’s Memory Almost Full.
The former Beatle will be taking questions on the album during his first ever Twitter Q&A which is slated for today (October 3). Questions can be submitted by using the hashtag #AskMacca.
