Alvin Lee’s Final Performance Released as Live Album
By: AnnMarie Scaramuzzino

Back in March, the Rock and Roll community suffered a great loss when Ten Years After guitarist Alvin Lee passed away unexpectedly at the age of 68.

In a strange twist of fate, the iconic rocker’s final performance, which took place on May 28, 2012 in Raalte, Holland, just happened to be recorded, and now, the live concert footage has been made available for fans.

The album, entitled The Last Show, features fourteen tracks that are made up of a combination of Lee’s work with Ten Years After including hits like “I’m Going Home” and “I Can’t Keep Myself from Crying Sometimes,” as well as several of his solo songs and other rarities, according the official press release.

“Possibly my favourite memory of Alvin in recent years: to see him walking off stage in Raalte with his red Gibson slung to the side and a big grin on his face," remembers Lee’s wife Evi. “Not usually one to be easily satisfied with his live performances, he was exhilarated and proud of having given the crowd his best on that evening. He would have been very happy with this unadulterated authentic release of the show.”

Lee and Ten Years After shot to fame in the late ‘60s, particularly after they rocked the stage on third day of Woodstock in 1969. After enjoying several years of success with the band, Lee would go on to collaborate with Rock and Roll royalty such as George Harrison, Ronnie Wood, Mick Fleetwood, Stevie Winwood, Mick Taylor and more.

The Last Show is available now via Rainman Records and can be ordered on
