Sammy Hagar's forthcoming solo effort, Sammy Hagar & Friends, is officially due out tomorrow (September 24), but for the past few weeks, the Red Rocker has been having fun teasing the album’s collaborative tracks.
The most recent song from the LP to get a ‘teaser video’ is a cover of the Depeche Mode classic, “Personal Jesus,” on which Sammy is joined by Journey rocker Neal Schon.
In the video, seen below, Hagar and Schon discuss recording the song, which was a decision that was made on-the-fly by Hagar, who heard the song on the radio on the way to the studio one day.
The singer decided a cover with more of a Rock and Roll edge was in order, and called Schon up on a Sunday to help lay down the track, which also features Hagar’s fellow Chickenfoot bandmates Michael Anthony and Chad Smith, as well as a pair of gospel singers.
Other big-name artists set to appear on Sammy Hagar & Friends include Kid Rock, Bill Church, Denny Carmassi, Ronnie Dunn, Nancy Wilson and Joe Satriani, among others.
Sammy Hagar has a series of upcoming tour dates scheduled for next month, which will kick off with his annual three-day birthday bash in Cabo San Lucas on October 7, 9 and 11.
