It looks like Jon Bon Jovi’s son has proven his talents to the Fighting Irish!
Asbury Park Press reports that the eldest of the Bongiovi boys, Jesse (18), will play for the Notre Dame football team this year as a walk-on freshman.
Jesse, who excelled in football and lacrosse in at Brooklyn’s Poly Prep High School, has signed on as cornerback, but don’t think that it’s because of his famous heritage.
In an interview earlier this month with CSN Chicago, Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly stated that Jesse deserved his spot on the roster just like the other players, explaining, "He's a tough kid. The kids really like him. They respect him. They don't look at him as a rock star's son. They look at him as a kid that loves Notre Dame and wants to play football and help this team."
Meanwhile, Jon Bon Jovi, who previously owned the AFL team the Philadelphia Soul, may have to cut some time out of his busy schedule to cheer Jesse on at Notre Dame Stadium, as September and October will be packed with concert dates for Bon Jovi. The band, still sans guitarist Richie Sambora, will kick off the South American leg of their Because We Can tour on September 10 in Mexico City.
