Doors guitarist Robby Krieger is excited to have the band in the app world these days.
The Doors launched their app in May, with sections that include a narrative of the band's history, a timeline, a cast of characters, images and, of course, plenty of music.
Krieger tells us that the app was the brainchild of Jac [cq] Holzman, who signed the group to his Elektra Records label in 1966 and will contain loads of goodies for the group’s fans:
"He's the one who put it together, like really a labor of love. It took him about a year and it's just got all kinds of cool stuff in it...There`s just tons of stuff...lots of stuff that nobody's seen, a lot of outtakes from the studio. Most of the stuff has been on the Internet already in one form or another, but this, it`s really for the true Doors fan that just wants everything that he's never known about the Doors or already has, all in one package."
The Doors app is available for $4.99, currently for iPad only but expanding to other platforms in the future. The guitarist and estranged Doors drummer John Densmore recently shot a joint interview that will be part of the app's offerings.
Krieger is currently on the road with his Jam Kitchen band and is also working on a new solo album.
