Don’t Stop Believin’ in a Journey reunion with Steve Perry! That’s the hope that guitarist Neal Schon gave to fans recently on Facebook.
Linking back to an interview Perry did with Denver Radio last year, Schon wrote in a July 24 post, “I hope we can reach out to each other and connect once again. We had amazing chemistry together. I love him with all the love and admiration you could even have. Steve lets talk soon.”
Perry officially left Journey in 1998 after being diagnosed with a degenerative bone condition and having hip replacement surgery. The singer was first replaced by Steve Auergi, then by Jeff Scott Soto and most recently by Arnel Pineda; a Filipino singer the band discovered on YouTube whose voice sounds remarkably like Perry’s.
Meanwhile, Steve Perry revealed last month on FanAsylum.com that he had been diagnosed with Melanoma skin cancer after having a routine mole removal procedure. The update was positive though, as he writes, “I've had two surgeries in two weeks to remove all the cancer cells and I've been told they think they got it all and no other treatments are required.”
Perry has yet to respond to Schon’s Facebook post, though it seems like a step in the right direction for those who would like to see the band settle their differences.
Journey in its current form is on tour this summer with their next show set for tonight (July 29) at the Casino Rama in Rama, ON.
