Paul McCartney
provided some musical Nirvana -- literally and figuratively -- to fans in Seattle during his show there Friday (July 19) at the city's Safeco Field.

During the first encore, McCartney was joined by surviving Nirvana members Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear to recreate their "Cut Me Some Slack" collaboration from the soundtrack of Grohl's "Sound City: Real To Reel."

But that wasn't all; the Nirvana trio stayed with McCartney for "Get Back" and Little Richard's "Long Tall Sally," then, after McCartney played "Yesterday," returned for "Helter Skelter" and the "Abbey Road" medley "Golden Slumbers"/"Carry That Weight"/"The End," which concluded the show.

After the concert, Novoselic tweeted "Thank you @PaulMcCartney for a great show and for having us play with you all."

McCartney and Nirvana previously performed together at the 12-12-12 Hurricane Sandy benefit in New York and then a few days later on "Saturday Night Live."

McCartney's Out There world tour next stops in Quebec City on Tuesday (July 23) and is booked into November. Nirvana will be releasing a deluxe 20th anniversary edition of its "In Utero" album in September.
