One night with Janis Joplin just wasn't enough for New York City!
After the 2011 premier at the Portland Center Stage and shows in Cleveland, OH, D.C, Pasadena, CA and Milwaukee, WC, A Night With Janis Joplin, will reach new heights with its run on Broadway in the fall, according to HollywoodReporter.com.
The musical, written and directed by Randy Johnson, characterizes the life and career of 1960’s rocker Janis Joplin, who sadly passed away in 1970 at the age of 27. The late songstress is being portrayed by Mary Bridget Davies, whose performance recently won her the 2013 Cleveland Critics Circle Award for Best Actress in a Musical.
Davies takes on Joplin’s persona and musical talent and takes the audience back in time with the Queen of Rock and Roll's greatest hits such as “Piece of My Heart,” Cry Baby,” “Mercedes Benz” and “Me and Bobby McGee.”
Before heading to Broadway, the concert style show will finish up its run in Washington, DC and then begin preview shows in New York at the Lyceum Theatre on September 20, just a few weeks before the official opening on October 10.
