The Doors’ Ray Manzarek may have passed away earlier this year, but the band has figured out a wonderful way to honor him while benefiting other living with cancer.
After Manzarek died from complications due to bile duct cancer in May, a new memorial t-shirt will be released for the band’s fans in order to both honor the late keyboardist and raise money for charity.
“We know that you all love Ray as much as we do and there have been lots of questions over the past several weeks about a Ray Manzarek tribute t-shirt,” the statement reads. “100% of the net proceeds from this limited-edition Ray Manzarek tribute t-shirt will be donated to Stand Up To Cancer.”
Stand up To Cancer has raised more than $262 million dollars for cancer research since the not-for-profit organization was founded in 2008.
Though no dates have been announced, surviving Doors members John Densmore and Robby Krieger are planning a tribute in Manzarek’s honor as well.
