After a six-month-long contest that came down to the wire, one lucky Foghat fan has won a pretty amazing opportunity.
After the band issued a contest asking fans to write lyrics to the all-instrumental “495 Boogie” from their latest album, Last Train Home, they have chosen a winner. Phil Dessigner won the contest, and now Foghat has recorded the track with Dessinger’s original lyrics.
According to the official release, the song, which now has the name “The Word of Rock n’ Roll,” will be released on July 9 through the band’s own label, Foghat Records.
The original instrumental track, which was recorded in just two takes, was extremely popular as well, having the designation of being the most downloaded track from the album.
The contest, which ended its run in February, was first announced after the death of their friend, a classic rock DJ named Charlie Ocean.
Dessinger might have genes on his side, as his father was an original member of CBS Orchestra and brought his son to all of his shows.
