Julian Lennon, the first son of Beatles icon John Lennon, celebrates his 50th birthday today.
Born April 8, 1963, Liverpool, England between Lennon and his first wife, Cynthia, Julian was quite literally brought up around music. He was even the inspiration for many of the Beatles’ songs, including “Hey Jude” and “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.”
A musician in his own right, Lennon found success with his 1984 release, Valotte, and has since toured and collaborated with many other artists. He also works with several charities, and founded The White Feather Foundation in 2009, which focuses on humanitarian and environmental issues.
His most recent project, the single “Someday,” is a duet with Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler, which is available digitally today via iTunes.
On his website, Lennon says of his latest release, “2013 highlights another year of inspiration for me, in regards to my music, photography and philanthropy work, and 'Someday' is a reflection of that.”
