Breaking news today that is sure to “make a grown man cry!” With happiness, that is.
After weeks of rumors, it has finally been confirmed that The Rolling Stones will indeed headline the world famous Glastonbury Festival this summer in the U.K.!
The news broke on the festival’s website when the lineup was posted and was later confirmed in a post on the band’s official website and a Twitter post from frontman Mick Jagger.
The singer tweeted, “Can’t wait to play Glastonbury. I have my wellies and my yurt!”; a reference to the festival’s soggy farmland.
Guitarist Keith Richards said in a statement on the group’s website, “We all had such a ball last year, and the energy between the band is so good. We can’t wait to play Glastonbury, see you on a summer’s day in England!”
Other acts confirmed for the festival include Elvis Costello, Lucinda Williams, Steve Winwood, Bill Wyman’s Rhythm Kings, Sinead O’Connor, The Smashing Pumpkins, and many others.
Unfortunately, tickets for the festival have already sold out, but rumor has it that the Stones plan to announce their May-June swing through North America next week. Insiders say they'll play at least two nights in each of 18 cities, including Los Angeles, Anaheim, San Jose, Seattle, Dallas, Chicago, Toronto, Boston, Philadelphia and more.
