41st Anniversary of "The Eagles: Greatest Hits 1971-1975"
Claire Holton

The Eagles are still soaring high!

Released on this day in 1976, “Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975” was the first album ever certified platinum and one of the best-selling albums of all time, selling in excess of 20 million copies, and it’s no wonder why. Memorable tracks such as “Take It Easy,” “Witchy Woman,” “One of These Nights,” and “Take It to the Limit” instantly remind listeners of warm summer days and simpler times.

The Eagles were one of the most popular and enduring bands of the 70’s and this greatest hits collection is definitely evidence of that.

Don’t miss the new two part Showtime documentary about the Eagles, “History of the Eagles: the Story of an American Band,” featuring interviews with every band member as well as never before seen footage of the band, airing on February 15 and 16 at 8PM.

For more on the documentary head to the band’s official website, and check out The Eagles performing “Take It Easy” at the 1998 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony below.
