We all love listening to the albums of our favorite bands or artists, but what if we were able to rock out to the music in an entirely different way?
Guitar icons Brian May (Queen) and Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath) are trying to make that happen by putting together a compilation made up exclusively of guitar riffs for fans to play along with.
During a recent interview with Kerrang! (via NME) May stated that the idea, which has apparently been in the works for a while, began when he visited Iommi’s studio and felt inspired by all of the guitarist’s fresh, yet idle material.
“The idea was to put all these riffs out in some form so that people could build their own songs from them. You could make your own music with Tony Iommi on guitar!” May said.
With Iommi currently hard at work recording the new Black Sabbath album, and May juggling several different projects, there’s no telling with the guitar-riff fueled LP could be released. But just as the two guitarists have inspired countless musicians in the past, this idea has the potential to reach an entirely new generation of budding rock stars.
Plus, who wouldn’t want to have the chance to jam with Tony Iommi?
