Some of the most well-known figures in Rock and Roll history are not always musicians. Often, producers, managers and engineers hold just as much clout as our favorite rock stars, and one of the most well-known is most definitely Phil Spector.
Between working with some of the most famous artists in history, such as the Beatles, the Ramones and the Righteous Brothers, his revolutionary invention of the “Wall of Sound” production technique, and his current incarceration, the producer’s life has been eventful, to say the least.
That was the thought of HBO, who are set to release a movie that chronicles Spector’s 2009 trial, in which he was found guilty for the murder of actress Lana Clarkson and sentenced to 19 years to life in prison. A trailer for the film was released yesterday (February 5th) with the legendary Al Pacino portraying Spector. The equally impressive Helen Mirren has also been cast in the film as Linda Kenney Baden; Spector’s lawyer.
Phil Spector, which was directed by David Mamet, will premiere on March 24th on HBO.
