Donald Fagen is reeling in the years and celebrating his 65th birthday today.
From his epic work with Steely Dan to his solo work and his recent tour as a part of the “The Dukes of September Rhythm Revue”, Donald Fagen shows no signs of slowing down.
A lifelong career in an industry that is known to eat its young is definitely something to applaud. His early love of Jazz greats Charlie Parker, Duke Ellington and John Coltrane and his major in English from Bard may have set the tone for Fagen’s unique writing style.
We can’t image the Rock & Roll timeline without the brilliance found in Pretzel Logic, The Royal Scam or Aja.
Let us not forget Fagen’s solo work which includes the much applauded Nightfly, Morph the Cat and his 2012 solo project Sunken Condos.
Since we can’t have too much of a good thing, let’s offer Donald Fagen warm wishes on his birthday and hope that he has many more!
