8/1/2012

Robert Plant has released a new live album with his latest band, the Sensational Shape Shifters, a 15-song set from the second show of the group's summer tour on July 12 at the HMV Forum in London. The album -- titled "Robert Plant Presents Sensational Space Shifters 7/12/12 HMV Forum, London, GB" -- is available online only, including iTunes, and combines songs Plant recorded on his own and with Led Zeppelin as well as some songs by singer Patty Griffin, the Band of Joy member who Plant is rumored to have married last year, and blues covers from the Howlin' Wolf and John Mayall songbooks. The full track list includes: "Fixin' to Die," "Tin Pan Valley," "'44," "Friends," "Spoonful," "Bron-Y-Aur-Stomp," "Ohio," "No Bad News," "Standing," "Black Dog," "Somebody Knocking," "Witchdoctor," Medley: "Whole Lotta Love"/"Steal Away"/"Bury My Body," "Another Tribe" and "Gallows Pole." Plant and company bring their act to the U.S. this month for shows at the Sunflower River Blues & Gospel Festival on August 11 in Clarksdale, Mississippi, and August 12 in Birmingham, Alabama. Meanwhile, Plant's Band of Joy DVD, "Live From the Artists Den," is airing as part of PBS' annual summer pledge drive.
