Shout out to Joe Elliott, who turns 54 today!
As a young kid, he dreamed of forming his own band and calling it Deaf Leopard…and his dreams came true when he met the other members of Atomic Mass, a heavy metal band from England.
Later, the band reworked their name into Def Leppard and soon became of one the greatest heavy metal bands in history, eventually selling over 100 million records and selling out venues across the world.
As the lead singer and frontman, Elliott is also credited with writing iconic songs such as “Pour Some Sugar on Me” and “Animal”, which continue to be some of the greatest "party songs" of all time!
Elliott began working on a side project in 2009 called Down N’ Outz; a Mott the Hoople cover band. The singer has also paid homage to the Thin White Duke with his David Bowie tribute band Cybernauts, which he performs in alongside Def Leppard bandmate Phil Collins.
And of course, Elliott continues to rock out with his Def Leppard crew year after year, most recently playing two shows with guitar icon Slash last month.
Happy Birthday Joe Elliott! For more info on the Def Leppard singer, head to the band's official website.
