Happy Birthday Mr. Tamborine Man!
By: Andrew Holub

Today it’s not “Hey Mr. Tambourine Man”, it’s “Happy Birthday, Roger” as Roger McGuinn, frontman for The Byrds, celebrates his 71st birthday.

Back when the Beatles were invading the American airwaves, the Byrds developed their own style of folk rock and 1960s pop that earned them a place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991.

The band certainly had staying power, and their hits continue to reverberate in America’s ear and influence many other artists.

Other than his work with the Byrds, McGuinn is also known for his solo material, releasing his self-titled debut in 1973 and several others albums through the decades, his most recent studio LP being 1991's Back From Rio.

Today, Roger McGuinn continues to play live, and has several tour dates scheduled for this summer, beginning with a show on August 8 in Baltimore, MD.

So, to Roger McGuinn, pioneer of modern music making, we wish you a very Happy Birthday!
