Stones May Sideline Woody In 2010

12/21/2009

Ron Wood's membership in the Rolling Stones may be at risk according to a new British newspaper report. The Daily Mail says that Wood's drink-fueled misadventures of the past year -- including a divorce from longtime wife Jo to take up with 20-year-old Russian waitress Ekaterina Ivanova, from whom he recently split -- may put Wood on the sidelines if the Stones tour as expected in 2010. An unnamed source told the newspaper that Stones frontman Mick Jagger "has washed his hands of Ronnie. The feeling is that he can't come back after this one." The source said that Jagger "always relied on Jo to be his conduit through to Ronnie -- he has relied on her to get Ronnie to work, to keep him well enough to pass a medical for the tour. Without Jo, Ronnie would never have managed to go on tour. You can't do it without insurance, and you won't get insurance without the medical. It's always been up to Jo to get him through all that. All communication has gone through Jo for years...Ronnie has always been a bit lost, and, without Jo, nobody can reach him." The Stones have not formally announced their plans for 2010, and Wood has also spoken about touring in some permutation of the Faces, with or without Rod Stewart.
