New Tape Claims To Be From Lennon Session

12/4/2009

A 13-minute audio tape purported to be from one of John Lennon's final recording sessions is being offered for sale. The Internet site lennontapes.com claims that the tape -- which features vocal warm-ups and covers of Elvis Presley's "Mystery Train," Maurice Williams' "Stay" and Bobby Darin's "Dream Lover" -- comes from an August 19th, 1980 session at New York's Hit Factory studio, where Lennon and his wife Yoko Ono were working on the "Double Fantasy" album. Insiders say it comes from the audio track to footage video director Jay Dubin filmed that day. Ono has no commented on whether the recording is legitimate.
