Springsteen to Have Big Weekend with Grammy Nominations and MusicCares Award
By: Gary Graff

It'll be a big weekend for Bruce Springsteen in Los Angeles.

The New Jersey rocker is being honored as the MusicCares Person of the Year with an all-star gala and concert on Friday (February 8), and he's up for three Grammys -- Best Rock Album for last year's "Wrecking Ball" and Best Rock Song and Best Rock Performance for the single "We Take Care of Our Own" -- at the 55th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony on Sunday (February 10).

E Street Band guitarist Nils Lofgren tells us that nearly a year later, the album still resonates with the band members, who have been playing it on the road since March of 2012:

"Musically I think it is great. I think there are some of the flavor of (Springsteen's) Seeger Sessions Band and kind of the banjos and the folk, the universal folk feel from Irish to American, and just, again, it's a great melting pot that Bruce has always been with very authentic, powerful songwriting that has the cynicism, the hope, the humor and the wisdom to just look at all of us, including himself, as human beings that aren't infallible, that keep wanting to dream and hope and pick ourselves up and carry on."

Springsteen, who kicked off last year's Grammys with "We Take Care of Our Own," will be celebrated at the MusiCares bash by Elton John, Sting, Neil Young, Jackson Browne and many others.

Bruce and the E Street Band hit the road again March 14 in Australia, with a European tour starting April 29 in Norway. The group will play Brazil's Rock in Rio festival on September 15 and is expected to announce some North American shows as well.
