Fleetwood Mac Announce 2013 Tour Dates

What's better than a new Fleetwood Mac tour? How about some new Fleetwood Mac music to go with it?

Stevie Nicks tells us that the group has recorded three new songs: "Sad Angela" and "Miss Fantasy," finished last month from basic tracks recorded by Lindsey Buckingham, bassist John McVie and drummer Mick Fleetwood earlier this year; and an unnamed leftover from sessions for the 1973 Buckingham Nicks album.

Nicks expects that the songs will be released digitally some time before the tour's April 4 start in Columbus, Ohio. Nicks says that:

"We have a little bit of product so that people can at least hear how we sound today when it comes to actually recording...So that's exciting, because people can go, 'Wow...' I mean, these songs sound like we're 30. It's really wild to me. It blows my mind. Because we've never stopped, our voices and everything we do sounds extremely young to me because when you keep working things don't change. It's when you stop working is when things change. When you stop singing and you stop working on your craft and you stop taking care of your voice, that's when things change."

Fleetwood Mac will play 34 shows during the tour, wrapping up June 12 in Detroit. The group, which last toured in 2009, was initially planning to do the tour this year, but Nicks wanted more time to promote her 2011 album "In Your Dreams" and also felt that a longer break would work in its favor:

"We should always be off the road for three years, because when we are, when we come back it's an event. I think that's very important. You didn't just see us a year and a half ago. So when there's a lot of famous bands out and a lot of important people out, you're gonna make a choice [about] which ticket to buy, and if...one of the bands, you've not seen them in three years, that's gonna be at the top of the list. A big band like Fleetwood Mac needs to get out of the spotlight, so that's what we've done."
