Randy Bachman’s “Vinyl Tap Tour” Out Now

BARRIE, CANADA - JULY 2: Randy Bachman performs during 'Live 8 Canada' on July 2, 2005 in Barrie, Ontario, Canada. The free concert is one of ten simultaneous international gigs including Philadelphia, Berlin, Rome, Paris, Barrie, Tokyo, Cornwall, Moscow and Johannesburg.
Just out this week is Randy Bachman's "Vinyl Tap Tour: Every Song Tells a Story," a DVD and CD documentary of the special storytellers type of show the former Guess Who and Bachman-Turner Overdrive guitarist does on occasion.

The 14-song set features material from both of those bands, with expensive and often enlightening introductions by Bachman, who tells us that "It's like telling your kids a bedtime story. If it's five minutes to bedtime you tell them a five-minute story, if it's 15 minutes you tell the same story and just embellish it a little more. I'm actually stunned and surprised and thrilled at the response to this because it was done as a labor of love. It was a response because people wanted to hear the stories. I'm glad people are into this."

"Vinyl Tap Tour" has already been certified triple-platinum in Canada. Bachman will be playing shows this week -- including an August 30 date in Las Vegas with Fred Turner -- and in October and is planning more in the future. He'll also be releasing a new blues album in 2015.
