If you’re thinking the Elton John biopic that is currently in the works is going to be an all-sunshine-and-roses account of the legendary pianist’s life, think again.
It’s no secret that Sir Elton has had his struggles with addiction, and according to a recent interview with BBC.com, Lee Hall, who’s writing the film’s script, said that the film will cover Elton’s life “from birth to rehab” in the 1990’s. Hall said that Elton even gave him access to his diaries from when he was in rehab to allow for a more realistic script.
Wow…talk about really putting yourself out there! It takes a brave person to really let someone into the belly of the beast like Elton is doing with this movie. I doubt many other musicians would be this open, especially about such a dark experience.
The film is set to begin filming later this year, with Tom Hardy portraying Sir Elton. Considering Hardy’s performance as Bane from The Dark Knight Rises, I doubt he’ll have any difficulty tackling some of the heavy moments from Elton’s incredible life.
