The masters library at Experience Hendrix, LLC and Legacy Recordings just got a bit larger.
Per JimiHendrix.com, the Hendrix estate and the Sony Music entertainment branch now own the full and complete rights to recordings Jimi Hendrix made as a sideman for Curtis Knight & The Squires from 1965-1967, which was just before he became the legend we all remember today from The Jimi Hendrix Experience.
Apparently, the Hendrix Estate and Legacy have been in a decades long battle with record producer and PPX International founder Ed Chalpin over these recordings, which include 88 live and studio master recordings.
The best part of all of this is that reknown sound engineer Eddie Kramer will be remastering all of these recordings and will be released to fans over the next three years.
Release dates will likely follow once sets are properly mixed and remastered, but how awesome is it that these early recordings are finally getting a proper reissue? Can’t wait to hear them all!
