AC/DC’s Brian Johnson Receiving Honorary Doctorate

BRESCIA, ITALY - MAY 15: Brian Johnson attends Mille Miglia 2014, 1000 Miles Historic Road Race on May 15, 2014 in Brescia, Italy.
AC/DC
frontman Brian Johnson will have a Dr. in front of his name this week.

The singer will receive an Honorary Doctor of Music degree on Wednesday (July 9) from Nothumbria University in Newcastle, England -- not far from where Johnson was born and raised in Gateshead.

Nothrumbria awards honorary degrees "for their achievements, their links to the University -- and for their sheer inspirational qualities." Johnson is expected to attend the ceremony on Wednesday, taking a break from AC/DC's current studio sessions in Vancouver for its long-awaited follow-up to 2008's "Black Ice" album.

The group is also rumored to be planning a tour for later this year, with reports claiming it will be a 40-date trek to commemorate its 40th anniversary.
