Def Leppard’s Campbell Doing Chemo On Tour

LAS VEGAS, NV - MARCH 22: Guitarist Vivian Campbell of Def Leppard performs on the opening night of 'VIVA Hysteria!,' the band's 11-show residency, at The Joint inside the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on March 22, 2013 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
How resilient is Def Leppard’s Vivian Campbell?  Not even cancer can stop him from heading out on tour this summer!

Campbell revealed in May that while he went into remission last year after battling Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, the cancer had come back.  But in a recent interview with Utah’s Daily Herald, Campbell says that while he and Def Leppard are on the road with KISS, he will be undergoing a new kind of chemo treatment that’s part of a clinical trial at Southern California’s City of Hope cancer research hospital.

Campbell also said that after the tour, he’s getting a stem-cell transplant, which will hopefully prevent the cancer from returning.  Despite this, Campbell seems to be in good spirits saying, with a laugh, “It is what it is. It could be worse -- but at least I have health insurance.”

He definitely has the right attitude, that’s for sure!  Get well soon, Vivian!
