Ringo Starr Art Exhibit Opens In NYC

LOS ANGELES, CA - JANUARY 27: Recording artist Ringo Starr performs onstage during 'The Night That Changed America: A GRAMMY Salute To The Beatles' at the Los Angeles Convention Center on January 27, 2014 in Los Angeles, California.
After two shows with his All-Starr Band at New York's Beacon Theater this week, Ringo Starr will take a quick break from music to focus on one of his other passions -- art.

Starr will open an exhibit of his "self-portraits" today (June 19) with a VIP reception at the Soho Contemporary Art Gallery in New York City. It will be Starr's third running art exhibition; his works are currently on displays at the Hard Rock Cafe in Chicago and the Ocean Gallery in Stone Harbor, N.J., and the pieces can also be seen online at

The current All-Starr tour runs through July 19 in Los Angeles, while another leg is scheduled for October. Starr plans to celebrate his 74th birthday in Los Angeles on July 7 with a Peace & Love "moment" in front of the Capitol Records building at noon PST.

Meanwhile, "Ringo Starr: A Lifetime of Peace and Love," filmed during a January event where he was honored by the David Lynch Foundation, debuts at 8 p.m. EST on AXS TV.
