Joe Perry`s out on the road with Aerosmith and has a memoir, "Rocks: My Life In and Out of Aerosmith," coming in October, but he`s also thinking about future music -- of its own.
The guitarist tells us he's eyeballing a follow-up to his last solo album, 2005's "Joe Perry," which he expects will take a different path than some of his other releases in the past:
"I`ve written a bunch of stuff, and it`s probably focused a little more on some instrumental stuff. I was nominated for a Grammy, on one of the songs on the 'Joe Perry' solo record ('Mercy'). I`ve always had a couple instrumental things on there, so I`m thinking of going a little bit down that road a little. I`ve been inspired in a way that I haven`t been inspired for the other records. It's coming from a different place."
Aerosmith is in Europe until July 2, then returns to North America for summer dates with Slash that begin July 10 in Wantagh, N.Y. The "Rocks" book, written with David Ritz, is due out October 7.
