Sambora Details Why He Left Bon Jovi, New Solo Album

LOUISVILLE, KY - MAY 02: Recording artist Richie Sambora performs at the Barnstable Brown Kentucky Derby Eve Gala at Barnstable Brown House on May 2, 2014 in Louisville, Kentucky.
It has been about a year since Richie Sambora’s sudden departure from Bon Jovi, and while he says he left the band to spend more time with his family, Sambora is citing lack of “freedom” as another reason for walking.

In a recent interview with Rock Radio NI, Sambora says that he has more “freedom” as a solo artist and that “There wasn't enough room to improvise, to have that moment where you can actually lose yourself musically” in Bon Jovi over the past few years.

Sambora must be really enjoying his solo time (or at the very least, getting really creative), because when asked about the sound of his new solo album, the guitarist referred to his work as “Fleetwood Mac on steroids.”

I’m not sure what that means or sounds like, but with a description like that, I definitely can’t wait to hear what Richie has in store.
