Malaysia Bans “Axis: Bold As Love”

NEW YORK, NY - SEPTEMBER 18: Jimi Hendrix's signed photo on display at private media viewing at 'Gotta Have It!' gallery store on September 18, 2013 in New York City. Dispayed items would be auctioned online at GottaHaveRockandRoll.com from Wednesday, September 18th at 10 am through September 27th.
Well, this ban seems to be coming 47 years too late.

Per The Malay Mail Online, The Home Ministry of Malaysia has thrown down a ban on the Jimi Hendrix Experience 1967 album Axis:  Bold As Love due to the album cover featuring images of Lord Vishnu as well as the band being depicted as the Hindu deity.

A spokesman from the Home Ministry said that the album with alternate cover art would be allowed within the country, but all original cover art depicting Lord Vishnu or any religious figure will not be allowed within the country.

Here’s hoping the Hendrix Estate comes up with some alternate cover art quick.  No one should be without access to Axis.
