Here we go again…
You would think U2’s Bono and The Edge would’ve learned their lesson from the disaster that was “Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark”, the over-the-top, injury-laden Broadway musical bomb, but early reports are indicating that they are taking another crack at a new musical.
Per Noise11.com, Bono and The Edge are currently involved in a movie musical titled “Sing Street”, which is about a young teenage boy that starts a band, in order to provide an escape from his life at home. There’s no word yet if Bono and The Edge are writing the music for the film, but apparently the two will be involved with the film in other non-music related ways.
While I have no problem with musicians or bands taking on different side-projects away from their “day jobs,” but when you’re U2, and it’s been over five years since the release of your last album (which was okay, at best), sometimes you have to pass on new endeavors and just head back into the studio. Fans don’t want a musical; they want a new album.
Oh…and don’t forget about a tour. They want that, too.
