Upcoming Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Peter Gabriel will be bringing his "Back to Front" show from the tour commemorating the 25th anniversary of his landmark "So" album to the big screen for one night only next month.
Gabriel's October 2013 performance at London's O2 Arena, which included "So" in its entirety, will be shown at 7:30 p.m. local time on screens around North America, bolstered by interviews with Gabriel and his band members. Information about the screenings is available at www.FathomEvents.com.
The tour ran during 2012-2013, and Gabriel re-assembled the original "So" touring band for the dates. He told us a bit about the inspiration for the endeavor:
"I think one of the things that switched my thinking, because I never really considered a retro tour like this before, was seeing 'Pet Sounds' with Brian Wilson. That had been one of my favorite records, and it was actually great to hear it as performed as a single entity, which we never actually did with the 'So' album...And then we were getting some good offers, and I thought it could be quite fun to do this and try and get the band together that did that original tour."
Gabriel has not yet commented on the Rock Hall honor but is expected to attend the April 10 ceremony in Brooklyn after missing Genesis' induction in 2010.
