Eric Clapton Includes Farewell Letter In Program For Japan Tour

More often than not, when a musician says they intend to not tour anymore at a certain point in their career, it’s usually all a ruse.  In the case of Eric Clapton, however, it looks like he’s keeping to his word.

As reported by Noise11.com, the program sold at Clapton’s final show of his Japan tour contained a letter to his fans stating, “I may not be able to come back again…I’ve been coming here for forty years before some of you were born. It’s the best place I’ve ever played. Thank you for having me.”

Clapton told Rolling Stone in February 2013 that he would stop touring once he turned 70.  Considering he’s spent decades of his life on the road, I think he’s more than deserved his retirement.
