The feature-length documentary “Johnny Winter: Down & Dirty” will have its world premiere at this year’s SXSW on March 12th. The legendary bluesman is also scheduled to perform at the festival shortly after the premiere.
Per the documentary’s official website, “Down & Dirty”, which was directed by “LEMMY” filmmaker Greg Olliver, will chronicle Winter’s life and career. From his childhood, his performance at Woodstock to his years of struggling with heroin and methadone addiction, no stone is left unturned in this 80 minute ride. Winter even opens up about his relationship with Janis Joplin .
“I’ve had a great life…I’ve been through a lot of sh*t,” says Winter. “I always like stories about people that drink and have drug problems and women problems. It’s just interesting.”
The anticipated film will also feature appearances by Billy Gibbons, Tommy Shannon, Derek Trucks and more.
