Styx recently had a change of situation on its drum stool -- albeit only temporarily.
Kenny Aronoff of John Mellencamp and John Fogerty fame and most recently seen on "The Beatles: The Night That Changed America -- A Grammy Salute" TV special, will be filling in for regular Styx skinsman Todd Sucherman whose wife Taylor just gave birth to a new daughter, Teagan, sooner than was expected.
Aronoff tweeted the news earlier this week and subsequently said that he got the call from Styx just after the Super Bowl, with three days' notice to prepare. He finished his stint with the group on Monday (February 10).
The group's Tommy Shaw posted a note on his Facebook page that Aronoff "has done an amazing job filling in for Todd...We all enjoyed watching Kenny masterfully man on the drums for numerous performances...on the Beatles tribute concert on CBS...We can't thank him enough for being so flexible as we did our best to estimate when Teagen would decide it was time to be born! Cheers, Kenny!!!"
Styx, with Sucherman back in the fold, returns to the road with three nights at the Northern Lights Theater in Milwaukee on February 20-22, and the group is also revving up for the Soundtrack of Summer Tour with Foreigner and Don Felder, which begins May 16 in Oklahoma City.
