Top 5 Classic Rock Couples

In honor of Valentine’s Day, we’re taking a look at Top 5 Classic Rock couples who made and make lovin’ fun.

1. Linda and Paul McCartney

According to Barry Miles’ book “Many Years From Now,” when Paul McCartney first met Linda Eastman in 1967, he uttered, “We're going on to another club after this, would you like to join us?”  It may not have been the smoothest pickup line, but it was the beginning of one of Rock & Roll’s greatest love stories.

Paul and Linda married 1969 and together they had three children with Paul also adopting Linda’s daughter from a previous marriage.  As Paul went on to form his next band, Wings, Linda was by his side adding backing vocals and playing keyboard.

Sadly, she succumbed to cancer in 1998, but their love lives on forever through his music.

2. Yoko Ono and John Lennon

The love story of John & Yoko is legendary.  Two artists, first drawn together in the 1966, would go on to captivate the world.

Yoko was Lennon’s muse and Lennon hers.  Married in 1969, John and Yoko would not only dedicate their lives to one another, but also to many causes they passionately believed in.  From their “Bed-Ins For Peace” to performing at a concert for jailed activist John Sinclair, anti-war and peace activism remained a priority for this couple.

After a short separation in the early ‘70s, John and Yoko came back together and soon welcomed their son Sean to family.  The joy of their lives together as a couple and family were captured in words and music on the album “Double Fantasy,” released shortly before John was assassinated outside of the building where he, Yoko and Sean shared an apartment in 1980.

3. Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne

It must have been written in the stars for Sharon and Ozzy.  They met back in ’76 when Sharon’s father started managing Black Sabbath, and as the saying goes, the rest is Rock & Roll history.

Of course there was no shortage of drama for the couple, thanks in part to Ozzy’s documented trials for alcohol and drugs.  But love prevailed and the couple got hitched in ’82.

Soon to follow kids, album sales in the millions and a little show called “The Osbournes” on MTV that brought the hilarious couple in the living rooms and hearts of viewers all over the world.

Though they’ve had their ups and downs over the years, it sure seems that Ozzy and Sharon are in it for the long haul.

4. Shannon Tweed and Gene Simmons

Talk about patience.  It took 28 years of being together before this couple actually said “I do” in 2011.

Not officially tying the knot didn’t stop this Rock & Roll couple from living “quasi-normal” life.  Gene and Shannon have two children and gave fans, and the world, a look inside their relationship and family with their reality show “Gene Simmons Family Jewels,” which ran for seven seasons.

Perhaps it was a case of “one more time just to be sure the first one took,” but Gene and Shannon renewed their vows in 2013, after just 2 years of marriage.   Better two times than never.

5. Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham

To say that Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham’s relationship has been a roller coaster ride, may be an understatement.   But it also may be the ups and downs that lead to the creation of some of the most iconic music is Rock & Roll history.

From the early days together as musicians and a couple on through their turbulent breakup during the Fleetwood Mac years and onto their continuing professional relationship, Stevie and Lindsey continue to captivated fans.

With Hits like “Landslide,” “Second Hand News,” and “Silver Springs,” “Go Your Own Way,” and “Dreams” giving us insight into their relationship, who wouldn’t be fascinated by this creative couple?

In a 2009 interview with MTV when talking about her decades long relationship with Lindsey, Stevie shared, “It’s over. It doesn't mean the great feeling isn't there, it must mean that ... you know, we're beauty and the beast. It means that the love is always there but we'll never be together, so that's even more romantic."

Love…it’s nothing if not romantic.
