Springsteen Kicks Off 2014 Tour

Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band kicked off its 2014 live schedule with a 27-song set at the Belleville Velodrome in Cape Town, South Africa on Sunday (January 26).

The show began with the Special A.K.A.'s "Nelson Mandela" in tribute to the late South African leader and also included five songs from Springsteen's chart-topping new "High Hopes" album -- the title track and "Heaven`s Wall" as well as the previously released "American Skin (41 Shots)" and "The Ghost of Tom Joad."

The rest of the set spanned Springsteen's career and also included a cover of the Isley Brothers' "Shout" and ended with an acoustic version of "Thunder Road."

Springsteen plans to make a recording of the convert available for download online within the next day or two. Springsteen and company play again on Tuesday (January 28) in Cape Town before moving on to Johannesburg and then Australia and New Zealand.

The group has one U.S. date booked so far, May 3 at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, but more are expected to be announced soon.
