Stevie Nicks tried out a career in acting earlier this year by filming an episode for FX’s American Horror Story: Coven, and over the weekend, the singer took on an even more unexpected role.
On Friday (December 27), Nicks officiated the wedding of pop singer Vanessa Carlton and her now-husband, John McCauley of the band Deer Tick.
According to Billboard, the newlyweds met through My Morning Jacket drummer Patrick Hallahan, who appeared on Carlton’s 2011 album, Rabbits on the Run.
The happy couple took to social media to share various photos from what looks like a beautiful outdoor wedding, some of which include a shot of Stevie filling out their marriage license, a photo from the actual ceremony and a group shot of Carlton, McCauley and Nicks.
“Here is Stevie Nicks doing my marriage paperwork. It's a misdemeanor in the state of Arizona if she messes it up,” teased McCauley on Instagram, before continuing, “She's a badass reverend. It was an awesome ceremony. Thank you Stevie! And thank you all for the good wishes!”
Meanwhile, Carlton kept it simple with the post, “Thanks Stevie for marrying us!”
In other Fleetwood Mac news, the band had to cut their 2013 tour dates short in October due to bassist John McVie’s cancer diagnosis, but the group will reportedly return to the stage in early 2014 with John at the helm.
Another McVie that could be present for the shows is Christine McVie, who performed with Fleetwood Mac earlier this year in London for the first time since leaving the lineup in 1998.
During an interview with The Guardian last month, McVie stated, “I like being with the band, the whole idea of playing music with them. I miss them all. If they were to ask me I would probably be very delighted…but it hasn't happened so we'll have to wait and see.”
