Cheap Trick is seemingly the latest band to boycott the theme park, SeaWorld.
The group was scheduled to perform at the Orlando location’s forthcoming concert series, “Bands, Brew and BBQ,” which is slated for February, but they have since dropped out, according to ClickOrlando.com.
Willie Nelson and Bare Naked Ladies were also marked down to play at the event, but both acts have since canceled, citing the recent documentary Blackfish, which reportedly shows the mistreatment of SeaWorld’s captive marine animals, as their reason.
Earlier this week, Heart dropped out of a separate show at the park which was scheduled for February 9 after stating that they were unaware that their Orlando concert was to take place at SeaWorld.
Guitarist Nancy Wilson took to Twitter to write, “Had we known, we’d have said no.”
Additionally, News 96.5 reports that Joan Jett, a known animal rights activist and vegetarian, sent a cease-and-desist letter to the park earlier this week, demanding that they stop playing her song “I Love Rock ‘n Roll” during their “Shamu Rocks” show.
There’s been no confirmation that Cheap Trick dropped out of their SeaWorld appearance for the same reasons as the aforementioned artists.
Meanwhile, REO Speedwagon, country singer Martina McBride and former American Idol winner Scotty McCreery are still listed among performers for the “Bands, Brews and BBQ” concert series.
